workplace discrimination

If you are an employee who is still at work, but are being subjected to discrimination, you may feel angry, frustrated, or even hopeless.

Workplace discrimination

The work environment can be tough.  Bosses can be demanding, unpleasant, rude, or even mean.  An employer does not have to be nice to employees; but an employer cannot discriminate against employees for unlawful reasons.  Therefore, employers cannot subject employees to adverse actions based on race, gender, religion, disability, or other protected classes.  Acts of discrimination can include demoting employees, disciplining employees, or harassing or threatening employees.

Certain federal, state, and local laws are designed to protect employees from workplace discrimination.  Employers cannot  [legally] deny employees the rights established by these laws.  Therefore, depending on the circumstances, employees may be required to allow employees to take leave from work; provide reasonable accommodations to disabled employees; and/or pay employees certain wages.

When employees believe that their rights are being denied, they can make complaints to their employers—or initiate formal legal claims.  Making a complaint about discrimination is considered protected activity.  As a result, employers cannot further discriminate or retaliate against employees for making complaints.

If you are an employee who is still at work, but are being subjected to discrimination, you may feel angry, frustrated, or even hopeless.  Contact Rambsy Law in order to learn more about your rights and discuss your legal options.
