Workplace discrimination
The work environment can be tough. Bosses can be demanding, unpleasant, rude, or even mean. And it is true that most employment positions are “at will”. This means that an employee can be fired for any legal reason. But what is a legal reason
There are federal, state, and local laws designed to protect employees from workplace discrimination. Employers cannot subject employees to adverse actions based on race, gender, religion, disability, or other protected classes. Additionally, employers cannot retaliate against employees who make complaints that they are being subjected to unlawful discrimination.
You may have trouble understanding your legal rights and determining the difference between those instances when an employer is just being unreasonable and when an employer is being unlawful. An employer is not likely to admit that the reason for discrimination or termination is unlawful. Yet, there will usually be some evidence to prove that certain actions are unlawful. Has an employee been treated differently from employees of a different race or different gender? Has an employee received good evaluations, until the employee revealed that she is pregnant? Has an employee recently made a complaint, and was then fired shortly after making the complaint?
Rambsy Law is ready to assist you if you have been discriminated against or facing other adverse actions such as being unlawfully terminated. Rambsy Law will work with you to discuss a full overview of your specific employment situation and determine the next best steps to assist you in maximizing your employment situation.
